Poderi Parpinello’s founder, Giampaolo Parpinello, trained at the Scuola Enologica di Conegliano Veneto and moved to Sardinia in 1964 for his first role as an enologist. In 1990, he bought the first vineyard hectares near Lake Baratz in Alghero, which became Podere San Costantino. The Parpinello family later planted 20 hectares of vineyards between Alghero and Sassari as part of the Janna de Mare project.

The production winery is located in Janna de Mare, situated between Alghero and Sassari. Its 35 hectares of vineyards are divided into 7 hectares near Castelsardo, 15 hectares near Lake Baratz north of Alghero, and 13 hectares at Janna de Mare between Alghero and Sassari. The grapes grown are Cannonau, Vermentino, Monica, Cagnulari, Torbato, Semidano, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
