Planeta

Planeta is a Sicilian wine producer founded by Diego Planeta; its first winery was established at Ulmo in 1995, the year of its first harvest. The Planeta family’s agricultural history in Sicily spans five centuries and 17 generations. Alessio Planeta received Wine Enthusiast’s Winemaker of the Year award.

In Noto, Planeta acquired Buonivini in 1998 in search of Nero d’Avola. Nero d’Avola and Frappato were also planted in Vittoria for Cerasuolo di Vittoria. On Etna, Sciara Nuova was planted in 2008, followed by Feudo di Mezzo’s inauguration and the first harvest on the volcano in 2012. La Baronia winery at Capo Milazzo followed in 2015. The organic conversion period was completed in Vittoria, Noto, Etna and Capo Milazzo in 2020, then in Menfi in 2021. Its wines include Santa Cecilia, created in 1997.
