Merry Edwards was founded in 1997 by Merry Edwards. In 2019, the winery partnered with Maison Louis Roederer, and it is part of the Roederer Collection owned by Maison Louis Roederer. After 47 vintages as a winemaker, Merry Edwards retired in February 2020, and Heidi von der Mehden is the winemaker.

The winery and all of its vineyards are Certified California Sustainable. Its vineyards include Bucher, Coopersmith, Dach, Flax, Georganne, Klopp Ranch, Maefield, Meredith Estate, Olivet Lane, Richaven, and Warrens’ Hill. In the winery, lengthy cold soaks are used to extract pigment from grape skins. The Sauvignon Blanc ferments in barrels, with a twice-weekly lees-stirring regime employed by Heidi von der Mehden.
