Far Niente is a winery in Oakville, founded by John Benson in 1880. Construction of the winery ended in 1886, and it became one of Napa Valley’s first gravity-flow wineries. Gil Nickel revitalized Far Niente in 1979 and imported Grand Cru Chardonnay cuttings from Burgundy in 1981. Production resumed at the historic winery with estate-bottled 1982 Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon and 1982 Far Niente Chardonnay.

The inaugural Cabernet Sauvignon was made entirely from Stelling Vineyard grapes, while the 1982 Chardonnay used Stelling grapes and those from other estate vineyards acquired by Nickel. Its wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Dolce, a small-production blend of late-harvest Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc affected by botrytis cinerea.
On VinoVoss, Far Niente has 4 wines in stock: 2 red, 2 white. Their average rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 720 ratings.
