Château Villemaurine is a Grand Cru Classé estate on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion. Its name dates to the seventh century, when the Moors established a fortified camp called Ville Maure, which later became Villemaurine. Shortly before the French Revolution, the estate belonged to Jean Combret de Faurie, who undertook extensive work to cultivate vines; his nephew Jacques Combret de Milon inherited his property in 1804. The Onclin family’s arrival in 2005 brought extensive building and vineyard renovations, before the Lefevere family bought the property from them in 2021. The estate’s predominantly limestone soils relate to two facies of asterias limestone, with coarser sandy-loam surface textures to the west and finer, more clay-rich textures to the east. Its wines include Château Villemaurine and Les Angelots de Villemaurine.
