Cavit

Cavit is a second-tier consortium in Trentino, founded in 1950, comprising 5,250 winegrowers associated with 11 wineries. In 1957, it added a commercial role alongside its technical work and acquired a winery to meet members’ growing needs. Its Ravina di Trento headquarters was built in 1964; enlargement began in 1977 and eventually brought the site to 80,000 square metres. Cavit first exported wine to the United States in 1978, and the Cantina dello Spumante opened in 1993.

Members cultivate vineyards averaging 1.2 hectares, whose small size enables hands-on care and harvesting by hand with Cavit’s support. The PICA platform enables precision viticulture and helps optimise resource use. Its wines include Charmat-method sparkling wines and Altemasi Trentodoc made by the traditional method.
