The Bolla winery was founded in 1883 in Soave by Alberto Bolla. In 1931, Alberto Bolla opened a production cellar in Pedemonte, in Valpolicella Classica, to produce red wines. In the 1930s, Alberto's eldest son Giorgio, an oenologist, joined the winery. Bolla belongs to Gruppo Italiano Vini, which acquired the winery in 2006.

The winery is in San Pietro in Cariano, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. The historic cellar houses 1,700 barriques, 35 tonneaux, and Slavonian oak barrels dating back to 1883. Its wines include Recioto, Valpolicella, Amarone, and white Soave.
