This Argentinian Malbec presents a deep, inky hue, indicative of its concentrated nature. The bouquet unfurls with layers of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and hints of violet, underscored by a mineral-driven graphite edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied and impeccably structured, with firm tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides lift and balance. The mid-palate reveals complex notes of crushed stone and subtle cocoa, leading to a long, persistent finish marked by a whisper of black pepper. This wine exemplifies the high-altitude terroir of the Uco Valley, offering both power and finesse.

Near-perfect wine, the only reason I deducted a point is because it was nearly identical to the 2019 vintage. After a brief pause, the wine reveals a subtle herbal nuance, but its ultimately character remains unchanged. A truly superb wine that offers everything you'd desire in one bottle.

In the heart of the Uco Valley, where the air is racy and the soil is rich, Alberto Zuccardi's winery has been a stalwart of Mendoza's wine scene since 1963. The estate's focus on terroir-driven wines, importantly in the esteemed Piedra Infinita, is a testament to the region's unique terroir. A small parcel of limestone outcrop, carefully selected and fermented in concrete amphoras, yields a wine that is both austere and bold. Its backbone is imposing, yet its linger is surprisingly refined. A wine that demands patience, but rewards it with a body and intricacy that is truly remarkable.

Rich and deep wine with a soft nose, but a limited expression. The suggestions are muted, with a dash of violet, bold chocolate, and peanut, but the palate is somewhat subdued, with a low intensity. The close is medium, with a touch of crushed sea shell and cherry, but the high tartness and tannin make it difficult to fully appreciate. The winery's commitment to minimal oak aging is evident, but it may not be enough to fully unlock the wine's potential. A promising start, but not yet a standout.

Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita Supercal is praised for its superb quality and subtle herbal nuances, though some find it nearly identical to other vintages. It offers a bold, austere character with a refined linger, but others note its muted expression and high tartness. The wine's minimal oak aging and terroir-driven approach are appreciated, yet some feel it lacks full potential.
