Viña Real Bakeder is a distinguished offering from CVNE, or Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, with roots tracing back to 1879. Founded by two brothers in Haro's railway district in Spain, the strategic location facilitated the growth of their wine business, enabling efficient transportation and bottling. Now in its fifth generation, CVNE remains a prominent Spanish wine group. The Viña Real Bakeder epitomizes Rioja's essence, sourced from two vineyards, San Ginés and Castejones, totaling 8.78 hectares in Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa. These south-facing vineyards, aged around 30 years and situated 550-600 meters above sea level, thrive in poor, clay-limestone soils with minimal water supply. The name "Bakeder," loosely translating to "beautiful as peace" in Basque, pays homage to Laguardia's fortified village. Fermented in small stainless steel tanks and undergoing malolactic fermentation in concrete, this wine ages for 11 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a nuanced expression of Rioja's terroir and tradition.
