The Villero Barolo presents a captivating garnet hue, indicative of its noble Nebbiolo roots. On the nose, it unfurls a bouquet of dried rose petals, red cherry, and anise, underscored by a whisper of earthy minerality. The palate is a masterclass in structure, with firm yet refined tannins providing a robust framework for the wine's vibrant acidity and layered complexity. Flavors of ripe plum and black tea evolve gracefully, leading to a long, savory finish with hints of leather and dried herbs. This Barolo exemplifies the elegance and age-worthiness characteristic of the esteemed Villero cru.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Villero Barolo hails from the esteemed Villero vineyard in the heart of the Barolo region, known for its calcareous clay soils and optimal sun exposure. This wine is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, which are hand-harvested and undergo a traditional fermentation process in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in large Slavonian oak casks for about 24 months, allowing it to develop its characteristic structure and complexity. Villero Barolo offers a robust profile with firm tannins and vibrant acidity, making it suitable for extended cellaring and pairing with rich, hearty dishes.
