Textbook Merlot is praised for its rich, full-bodied texture and complex flavors, including notes of chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Many appreciate its smooth, velvety finish and well-integrated tannins. While some find it sophisticated and elegant, others note a lack of varietal identity and occasional overpowering tannins. The wine's fruity character, with blackberry and plum, is consistently highlighted, making it a popular choice among Merlot enthusiasts.
This Textbook Merlot is an exemplary example of a well-structured wine. It reveals a bouquet of ripe dark fruit and baking spices with a hint of forest floor on the finish. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with flavors of black cherry, mocha and oak that linger on the finish. Enjoy this balanced and complex Merlot with roasted meats, grilled vegetables or a creamy risotto.
