Tabali Pedregoso Gran Reserva Carmenere 2023

I'm thoroughly underwhelmed by this Carmenere. It's a bit too velvety and lacks the nuance I've come to expect from this varietal. The Chilean Carmenere I've had so far has been a revelation, and I'm eager to dive deeper into the world of this grape. I'm not sure what's going on here, but it's definitely not the Carmenere I've been expecting. The price point is a bit steep, but I suppose it's a good affordability considering the quality. The color is deep, but it's not markedly impressive. The fruit undertones are somewhat one-dimensional, with a focus on black plum, blackberry, and leafy undertones. The trail is short and lacking in depth. Overall, I'm underwhelmed by this Carmenere. It's a bit too straightforward and lacks the nuance I've come to expect from this grape. I'm not sure what's going on here, but it's definitely not the Carmenere I've been expecting.

Lush and deep Carmenere with a deep, dense color. The nuances are layered, with notes of licorice, opaque fruits, and spices, all polished by a sweet and understated tobacco undertone. The ending is medium to full, with a lingering spice and tobacco feel that leaves a persistent impression.
