Voss Expert4.5/5

Voss Expert tasting note

This St. Laurent from Tattendorf presents a deep garnet hue, indicative of its concentrated character. The nose is a sophisticated interplay of black cherry, red currant, and subtle earthy nuances, underscored by a hint of dried herbs. On the palate, it reveals a medium-bodied structure with finely grained tannins and a vibrant acidity that enhances its freshness. The mid-palate is layered with notes of dark plum and a whisper of clove, leading to a lingering finish marked by mineral undertones. This wine exemplifies the varietal's potential within the Austrian terroir, offering both elegance and depth.

Originating from the historic vineyards of Tattendorf, this St. Laurent is crafted by Stiftskellerei Klosterneuburg, Austria's oldest winery. The region's warm Pannonian climate, combined with gravelly soils, provides an ideal environment for this variety, promoting ripeness and depth of flavor. The wine undergoes traditional fermentation in stainless steel, followed by maturation in large oak barrels, which enhances its structure while preserving the grape's natural fruit character. Expect a medium-bodied style with vibrant acidity, showcasing red berry notes and a subtle earthiness, making it a versatile choice for various culinary pairings.
