Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon is a delightful red wine with a rich and robust character. It exhibits a deep garnet color, indicating its full-bodied nature. On the nose, you can expect enticing aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, accompanied by hints of vanilla and oak. The palate is velvety and smooth, with flavors of ripe dark fruits, such as blackcurrant and blackberry, mingling with notes of chocolate and spice. The tannins are well-integrated, providing a balanced structure to the wine. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of dark fruit and subtle oak. Overall, Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon is a fantastic choice for those who appreciate a bold and flavorful red wine.

The wine's aromatic profile is highlighted by the body of brambles and eucalyptus, which are expertly smooth and harmonious. The sensation is medium in length, with a gentle and rounded texture, and a medium-bodied profile that is well-suited to a variety of culinary applications. The wine's finale is satisfying, with a soft trace of vanilla and a touch of oak.

I've been a long-time admirer of Smoking Loon, but unfortunately, the 2014 vintage falls short of its predecessors in terms of full-bodied richness and finish. while it's still a decent sip, it lacks the same level of richness and polish that I've come to expect from these top notch wines. Perhaps the introduction of a new label is to blame, as I'm left wondering if Smoking Loon Classic will be the next step in their evolution.

Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon offers a mix of experiences. Many appreciate its rich, fruity flavors with notes of oak, vanilla, and flint, making it a good value for the price. However, some find it overly sweet or lacking in depth. While some enjoy its smooth finish and versatility with food, others feel it can be unbalanced or too acidic. Overall, it's a decent choice for casual drinking.
