Displaying a pale straw hue, the Rootdown Riesling opens with a bouquet of white peach, lime zest, and delicate honeysuckle, underscored by a subtle minerality. On the palate, it reveals a precise balance of vibrant acidity and a whisper of residual sugar, creating a harmonious tension that is both refreshing and invigorating. The mid-palate is textured with notes of green apple and wet stone, leading to a clean, lingering finish marked by a hint of saline. This Riesling exemplifies the varietal's potential for elegance and finesse, making it a compelling choice for connoisseurs seeking a benchmark expression.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Rootdown Riesling is crafted from grapes grown in the cool climate of Mendocino County, California, where the diurnal temperature variation enhances acidity and flavor concentration. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its natural fruit character and vibrant freshness. This dry Riesling showcases a crisp profile with bright citrus and green apple notes, balanced by a mineral undertone. Ideal for those who appreciate a refreshing, food-friendly wine, it pairs well with a variety of dishes, offering a clean and invigorating finish.
