The 2016 Ridolfi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva presents a deep garnet hue, signaling its depth and maturity. On the nose, it unfurls an intricate bouquet of dark cherry, dried rose petals, and hints of forest floor, underscored by a subtle spiciness of clove and anise. The palate is full-bodied and elegantly structured, with finely grained tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides lift and longevity. Layers of blackcurrant, leather, and a whisper of balsamic reduction weave through to a persistent, mineral-laden finish. This Brunello exemplifies the quintessential balance and complexity of Montalcino's finest offerings.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Ridolfi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is crafted from Sangiovese grapes grown in the renowned Montalcino region of Tuscany, Italy. The vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature variation, enhancing the grapes' aromatic complexity. The wine undergoes extended maceration and is aged for a minimum of 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by additional bottle aging. This process results in a wine that offers a structured and balanced profile with pronounced acidity and firm tannins, making it suitable for long-term aging. It is ideal for those who appreciate traditional, robust Italian reds.
