Crisp and unexpected pairing of mint and berries, this Mencia from Galicia offers a lively and lean quality.

Robust and intense wine with a textured flavor profile, featuring notes of cherry, plum, and blackberry, alongside a delicate licorice undertone. The tannins are finely grained, contributing to a rewarding mouthfeel. This full-bodied wine pairs well with powerful dishes, such as a roasted veal shoulder.

Decent Mencia, but not quite the right fit. Its tannins are a bit too rough, and the freshness is a tad overpowering. Still, it gets the job done.

What the web is saying

This Mencia from Galicia presents vibrant fruit flavors like blackberry and berries with crisp freshness, though some find younger vintages' tannins too rough while others praise their fine grain. Balanced with subtle oak in recent releases, older vintages show persistent tannins that divide opinions.

Voss Experts4.8

This wine opens with alluring aromas of ripe cherries, wild strawberries, and subtle mineral undertones. The palate is juicy and vibrant, with refined acidity and a silky texture that carries through to a long, harmonious finish. Its elegant structure makes it an ideal companion to roasted duck, grilled lamb chops, or mushroom risotto. Serve slightly chilled at 16°C to enhance its freshness and intricate flavors.
