Purple Hands Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Luscious and earthy Pinot from a respected winemaker. The wine has a deep, ruby cast with a gentle purplish tint. The nose is led by by hints of cherry, petrichor, and potting soil, with a nuance of pepper. The taste is recognized by accents of red currant, licorice, vanilla, and mushroom, all of which are expertly cohesive by a subtle earthiness. The lasting impression is long and complex, with a noticeable tannic profile that will only improve with age. Overall, a high-quality wine that is well worth the price. I would recommend it to fans of concentrated and full-bodied Pinots.

Delicate single site Pinot Noir from the southern part of the Willamette Valley, highlighted by intense fruit and earthy shades of pine and wet soil. The texture is refined and approachable, with a gentle transition from fruit to spice. The wine exhibits a medium body and high acidity, making it a impressive choice for those desiring a seamless and easy-drinking Pinot Noir.

Masterful expression of terroir, vintage, and grape, underscoring the unique characteristics of Oregon's Pinot Noir. The wine's earthy, funk-forward profile is a testament to the region's robust soil and climate, with pungent aromas of black cherries, cloves, and spices. The 2013 vintage is notable for its wet and cold conditions, which have resulted in a wine that is brooding, dark, and seemingly holding back, but in a way that adds substance and complexity. The Oregon Pinot Noir is a true gem, and Purple Hands has demonstrated a remarkable ability to extract a beautiful expression from what is considered a challenging vintage.
