Displaying a translucent ruby hue, the Poppy Pinot Noir opens with a bouquet of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and subtle notes of forest floor, underscored by a whisper of clove and cinnamon spice. On the palate, the wine is elegantly structured, offering a silky texture that is both supple and vibrant. The interplay of bright acidity and fine-grained tannins provides a harmonious balance, leading to a lingering finish with hints of cranberry and a touch of earthiness. This Pinot Noir exemplifies the finesse and complexity characteristic of California's coastal vineyards, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts seeking a classic expression of the varietal.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Poppy Pinot Noir is crafted from grapes grown in California's Central Coast, where the cool maritime climate fosters a long growing season, enhancing the wine's fruit-forward character. This Pinot Noir undergoes fermentation in stainless steel to preserve its fresh, vibrant fruit profile, with a portion aged in French oak barrels to impart subtle spice and complexity. The resulting wine is medium-bodied, showcasing flavors of ripe cherry, raspberry, and a hint of vanilla, balanced by soft tannins and a smooth finish. Ideal for those who appreciate a well-rounded, approachable red wine.
