Tasting highlight
The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh fruit character and is aged briefly in neutral oak to add subtle complexity without overpowering its natural flavors.
A rare gem from the Greek varietal Koniaros, this wine presents a deep garnet hue, indicative of its robust character. The nose is a tapestry of ripe blackberries, dried herbs, and a whisper of flint, underscored by a subtle minerality that speaks to its terroir. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied structure with velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity that balances the concentrated dark fruit and savory olive tapenade notes. The finish is long and complex, with hints of black pepper and a touch of earthiness, making it a compelling choice for those exploring the depths of Greek viticulture.

Moosejaw Svisdahl
Robust and full-bodied wine with a opaque red hue, featuring aromas of ripe cherries and blackberries. However, upon tasting, a vacuum is revealed, leaving a disappointing impression. The Nerantzi family's preservation methods are evident, as the wine is wax sealed and gold-painted. The price of 50€ may be steep, but the experience is not to be missed.
Hans
Rich, full-bodied wine with a textured nose featuring earthy aromas, barnyard, and dried herbs. The impression is dry, with a medium+ body and harmonious tannins, accompanied by a medium+ acidity. The backbone is robust, with a long-lasting earthy aftertaste. A stellar wine with a long shelf life, well matched for further aging.
Monnati
KONIAROS is a rare and exclusive indigenous grape, cultivated by the Nerantzi family winery in Serres, Macedonia. The winery is the sole producer of this wine, with Mrs. N's meticulous hand-painting of the labels adding a touch of elegance. A subtle, yet distinctive aroma reminiscent of a Sears tire shop wafts up on the first sip, thanks to the winery's proprietary wax seal. The wine's inky red tint belies a rich, nuanced flavor profile, with accents of deep fruit, chocolate, and a dash of licorice. The conclusion is long and satisfying, with a mild depth that rewards further exploration.

Nerantzi Koniaros is a robust, full-bodied wine with deep fruit flavors like blackberry and black cherry, complemented by earthy, leathery, and spicy notes. While some appreciate its long, satisfying finish and aging potential, others find it lacks substance and complexity. The wine's unique indigenous grape and artisanal presentation add to its allure, though its high price is a point of contention.
