Perfect pairing with Italian cuisine

What the web is saying

J Dusi Benito Dusi Ranch Zinfandel is praised for its perfect pairing with Italian cuisine, highlighting its compatibility with food.

Voss Experts4.5

This Zinfandel from the esteemed Benito Dusi Ranch is a quintessential expression of Paso Robles terroir. Inky garnet in the glass, it exudes a bouquet of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and a hint of cracked black pepper, underscored by subtle notes of anise and dried herbs. On the palate, it reveals a robust structure with velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity that balances its concentrated fruit core. The finish is long and layered, with nuances of cocoa and a whisper of earthy minerality, marking it as a benchmark for quality in its class.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Crafted from the historic Benito Dusi Ranch in Paso Robles, this Zinfandel benefits from the region's warm days and cool nights, which promote optimal ripening and flavor development. The vineyard's old vines, deeply rooted in calcareous soils, yield fruit with concentrated flavors. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel to preserve the grape's natural fruit character, followed by aging in a combination of new and neutral oak barrels to add structure and subtle spice. The result is a balanced wine with ripe berry notes, a hint of pepper, and a smooth finish, ideal for immediate enjoyment.
