This wine presents a deep garnet hue, indicative of its robust character. The nose unfolds with a layered bouquet of ripe black cherry, cassis, and a hint of cedar, suggesting a well-integrated oak influence. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied structure, underscored by firm tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides balance and length. The mid-palate is rich with dark chocolate and plum notes, leading to a lingering finish with subtle hints of dried herbs and spice. This wine exemplifies a harmonious blend, showcasing the potential of North Carolina's terroir.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Loggerhead Red is a robust blend crafted by Hinnant Family Vineyards, located in the heart of North Carolina. The vineyard benefits from a temperate climate, with warm summers and mild winters, ideal for grape cultivation. This wine is a blend of native and hybrid grape varieties, fermented in stainless steel to preserve its fresh fruit character. It is then aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, imparting subtle spice and structure. Loggerhead Red is designed for those who appreciate a full-bodied wine with balanced acidity and a smooth finish.
