Voss Expert4.3/5

Voss Expert tasting note

Exhibiting a luminous ruby hue, the Frey Pinot Noir opens with an aromatic bouquet of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and a whisper of forest floor, underscored by a subtle hint of clove spice. On the palate, it reveals a delicate balance between its silky tannins and vibrant acidity, creating a seamless texture that is both elegant and refined. The mid-palate is layered with flavors of pomegranate and a touch of earthy minerality, leading to a graceful, lingering finish. This Pinot Noir exemplifies the finesse and complexity characteristic of its cool-climate origins, making it a commendable expression of the varietal.

Frey Pinot Noir is crafted from organically grown grapes in the cool climate of Mendocino County, California. The region's coastal influence provides the ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, with cool nights and warm days promoting balanced ripeness and acidity. The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh fruit character. It is aged in neutral oak barrels, allowing the natural flavors of cherry and raspberry to shine through with subtle earthy undertones. This Pinot Noir is intended to be approachable and food-friendly, offering a smooth, medium-bodied profile with a harmonious finish.
