Floodgate presents a vibrant expression of its terroir, with a pale straw hue that hints at its youthful vigor. The nose is a precise bouquet of white peach, lime zest, and flinty minerality, underscored by subtle notes of honeysuckle and wet stone. On the palate, it reveals a taut structure, with a laser-like acidity that cuts through the creamy texture, offering flavors of green apple and a whisper of saline. The finish is long and focused, with a lingering echo of citrus pith and a touch of almond. This wine exemplifies the finesse and clarity of its cool-climate origins.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Floodgate is crafted from grapes grown in a vineyard influenced by the cool, foggy climate of the Russian River Valley, which allows for a slow ripening process. This wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the natural fruit flavors and maintain a crisp profile. Partial aging in neutral oak barrels adds subtle complexity without overpowering the wine's inherent freshness. The result is a balanced wine with bright acidity and a clean finish, designed for immediate enjoyment. Ideal for those who appreciate a straightforward, fruit-forward style with a touch of elegance.
