Somewhat underwhelming encounter with this Carignan, with a nose that was overly prominent, featuring cherry, intense fruit, and spices, but ultimately overpowered by a jarring intensity that clashed with the fruit's freshness, leaving a somewhat unbalanced and unfulfilling finish.

The wine was poured into a decanter and left to sit for an hour, with no apparent impact. The flavor profile was deemed too harsh and overpowering, with a scorching heat that was not appreciated. The wine was then re-corked and left to sit for almost two days, during which time the harshness and heat were slowly tempered. Upon re-exposure to the bottle, the wine underwent a transformation, rounding out and becoming more balanced. The fruit was now more approachable, while the tannins were softened, and the bracing quality was more pronounced. The wine was deemed a stellar match for a beef roast, and a perfect option for those who enjoy robust, full-bodied wines. A decent wine, but not a standout.
