Well-rounded and pleasing pairing, complementing the decadent flavors of grilled duck breast.

Light and dry wine with a tart cranberry and strawberry flavor profile, but not a fan of gamay or light wines overall.

Robust and full-bodied red wine with a deep, earthy color and a deep essence of cherry, strawberry, and dried cranberry notes, augmented by a smooth, round structure and a crisp, bracing finish. The wine's medium bracing quality and gentle tannins provide a perfect symmetry of structure and approachability, making it an ideal pick for sipping on a warm summer evening.

What the web is saying

This Morgon 'Côte du Py' receives praise for its balanced structure and earthy fruit character, with reviewers noting both robust and refined qualities. While some appreciate its full-bodied nature with cherry/strawberry notes and smooth tannins, others find gamay characteristics too light. The wine shows consistent mineral undertones and food-pairing versatility, though its traditional profile may not appeal to all palates.

This lovely Morgon 'Côte du Py' from Domaine des Gaudets is a stunning example of the Gamay grape. On the nose, aromas of dark cherry, raspberry, and plum mingle with earthy and spicy notes of leather, earth, and clove. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and well balanced, with a bright acidity that leads to a juicy finish. Flavors of dark cherry, raspberry, and plum are complemented by hints of licorice, baking spice, and forest floor. Overall, this is a wonderful example of the Morgon appellation and a great pairing for grilled meats.
