This robust Italian red, hailing from the Molise region, presents a deep garnet hue with a nose that unfolds layers of black cherry, plum, and a hint of forest floor, underscored by earthy truffle and cedar nuances. On the palate, it showcases a full-bodied structure with velvety tannins and a balanced acidity that carries the dark fruit and savory spice profile seamlessly. The wine's complexity is further enhanced by a lingering finish marked by notes of cocoa and espresso. A quintessential expression of Montepulciano, it stands as a benchmark for Southern Italian reds, promising both immediate enjoyment and aging potential.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Di Majo Norante Don Luigi Riserva is crafted from the Montepulciano grape, grown in the Molise region of Italy. The vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature variation, promoting balanced ripening. The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit purity, followed by aging in French oak barrels to add complexity and structure. This full-bodied red offers concentrated dark fruit flavors, supported by firm tannins and a long finish. It is intended for those who appreciate robust, age-worthy wines with a harmonious blend of fruit and oak influences.
