This Montepulciano presents a deep, garnet hue, indicative of its robust character. The nose is a captivating bouquet of ripe black cherry, plum, and a hint of dried herbs, underscored by a subtle earthiness. On the palate, it reveals a medium to full-bodied structure with velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides a refreshing lift. The wine's complexity unfolds with layers of dark chocolate and a whisper of anise, leading to a long, harmonious finish. This is a quintessential expression of Montepulciano, showcasing both its rustic charm and refined elegance, suitable for immediate enjoyment or short-term cellaring.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Delinquente Montepulciano hails from the Riverland region of South Australia, known for its warm climate and fertile soils. This red wine is crafted from Montepulciano grapes, a variety that thrives in the region's sun-drenched conditions. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure a balance of fruit intensity and acidity. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh, vibrant fruit character, followed by maturation in neutral vessels to maintain purity of flavor. The resulting wine is medium-bodied, offering a bright expression of dark fruit flavors with a smooth, approachable finish.
