Penfolds Max's Shiraz - Cabernet 2023

Penfolds Max's Shiraz-Cabernet is praised for its rich, full-bodied character, with notes of blackberry, cherry, and plum, complemented by oak, spice, and a velvety texture. While many appreciate its complexity and smooth tannins, some find it too sharp or lacking in structure. The wine pairs well with savory dishes and offers good value for its price, though opinions vary on its sweetness and aging potential.

This Penfolds Max's Shiraz-Cabernet is a well-balanced blend of two varietals, combining the boldness of Shiraz with the elegance of Cabernet. On the nose, aromas of ripe dark fruit, cassis, and blackberries are joined by hints of earthiness, spice, and graphite. On the palate, flavors of black cherry, blueberry, and dark chocolate are complemented by a fine tannic structure and nuanced notes of licorice and nutmeg. The finish is long and smooth, with a lingering hint of sweet forest floor and cedar. A complex and enjoyable wine, perfect for a special occasion.
