Timrom Chabreck
The Château de Fargues boasts a robust, luxurious character, one of the richest of Sauternes. In the optimal vintage, with smooth tanginess to temper the richness, they excel in producing exceptional, and I believe this particular wine is a significant contributor to this extraordinary quality. The fruit-forward accents are balanced by a subtle, nuanced complexity, featuring layers of ripe peaches, banana, nectarine, apricot jam, blossom, and clover honey. The wine's substantial weight is offset by a crisp acidity, which effectively cuts through the richness and introduces a savory dimension. The length of the wine is noteworthy, and I return to this Château de Fargues as a notable example of a fine Sauternes.
