What the web is saying

Bodegas Faustino I Gran Reserva is praised for its rich, full-bodied character with flavors of cherry, vanilla, and leather. It offers a smooth, velvety texture and a long, satisfying finish. While some find it well-balanced and elegant, others note a lack of complexity. The wine pairs well with red meats and has aging potential, though some vintages may feel overpriced.

Voss Experts4.8

This Bodegas Faustino I Gran Reserva is a complex, full-bodied wine with aromas of ripe dark fruits, leather, forest floor and spices. On the palate, it offers intense flavors of cassis, blackberry, mocha and forest floor, with a dense and chewy texture that leads to a long, lingering finish. This is a wine to be enjoyed now or cellared for years to come.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

This renowned Spanish red from the Rioja region is a classic Gran Reserva from Bodegas Faustino I. The blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano grapes creates an intense nose of blackberries, cassis, and a hint of roasted coffee. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and rich, with flavors of blackberry jam and warm spices, as well as a long finish of dark chocolate and flinty oak. An ideal accompaniment to roast beef, grilled steak, or a rich cheese plate.
