The company behind Villa Sandi was founded in the early 1920s when Mario Polegato bought vineyards and entered the wine market. Following the Second World War, Divo Polegato and his wife Amalia Moretti ran and developed Mario's wine business. At the end of the 1970s, the Moretti Polegato family bought the early 1600s Palladian-style Villa Sandi and began its restoration.

Villa Sandi is located between the Prosecco of Valdobbiadene DOCG area and the Montello and Colli Asolani DOC area, spanning six estates across Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Glera and Chardonnay are cultivated on the Nervesa della Battaglia estate, while water from the Brentella canal irrigates vineyards and cools tanks. The winery holds the Biodiversity Friend Certification. Classic method sparkling wines age in underground cellars, and its wines include Cartizze La Rivetta, which received the Tre Bicchieri del Gambero Rosso award for twelve consecutive years starting in 2010.
