Torre d'Orti is an estate belonging to the Piona family in the hills near the village of Marcellise. The site's wide view led Castello di Montorio to choose it for a watchtower to protect against enemies. Centuries later, local farmers grew olives, grapes and cereals there and created terraces. The Piona family bought the land of the former watchtower and retained its historic name for their estate.

Its wines include Valpolicella, for which the land was replanted with vines. The soil combines the red earth typical of Valpolicella classico with white chalk, and this combination, together with the altitude, gives the grapes very low pH and high acidity.
