Tablas Creek Vineyard was founded in 1989 by the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel and the Haas family of Vineyard Brands, stemming from a friendship dating back to 1967. The estate winery was constructed and the label debuted with the 1997 vintage. Neil Collins is the winemaker.

The 270-acre estate is located in the Adelaida District at an average elevation of 1,500 feet, featuring shallow, rocky limestone soils and 140 acres under vine as of 2026. Certified organic in 2003, Biodynamic in 2017, and Regenerative Organic Certified in 2020, it became the first Regenerative Organic Certified Gold vineyard in 2022. The land is largely dry-farmed and uses a mobile herd of sheep, alpacas, and guard donkeys to control weeds and fertilize. Grapes are selectively hand-harvested in 2 to 4 passes per block and fermented using only native yeasts. Reds and Roussanne-based whites age for an additional year in 1,200-gallon French oak foudres, and its wines include Esprit de Tablas red and Esprit de Tablas white.
