Sur de Los Andes was founded in 2005 by Guillermo Banfi. Argentine winemaker Pablo Durigutti oversees vineyards and winemaking.

The winery is located in Las Compuertas, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina. It works with partner growers in Las Compuertas, Vistalba, and Agrelo with estates between 5 and 15 hectares, as well as small local growers in Los Árboles and La Consulta in the Uco Valley. Facilities include two production buildings: a main hall with a 420,000-liter capacity in concrete tanks and stainless steel, and a second 100,000-liter hall with vessels under 5,000 liters. The winery is equipped with traditional epoxy-free cement pools, stainless steel tanks, cement eggs, barrels, amphorae, and foudres, along with an experimental sector equipped with modern Pellenc machinery.
