Andy Peay and Nick Peay founded Peay and purchased land on the Sonoma Coast in November of 1996. In 2001, Vanessa Wong joined as winemaker, and Nick Peay concentrated on winegrowing while helping Wong in the cellar.

The 53-acre estate vineyard is located in Annapolis on the West Sonoma Coast, and the winery is in Cloverdale. Grapes grown include 34 acres of Pinot Noir, 8 acres of Syrah, 7 acres of Chardonnay, 1.8 acres of Viognier, 0.4 acres of Roussanne, and 0.2 acres of Marsanne. The vineyard is certified organic, maintains fish-friendly farming and integrated pest management certifications, and uses no-till farming to encourage soil and root health. Operations are powered by bio-diesel at the vineyard and solar power at both the vineyard and winery, and its wines include Pinot Noir from the Savoy Vineyard in Anderson Valley.
On VinoVoss, Peay has 6 wines in stock: 6 red. Their average rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 93 ratings.
