Neumeister

Neumeister is a wine producer in Straden in Vulkanland Steiermark, where Christoph Neumeister makes white wines. Falstaff named him Winemaker of the Year in 2019.

Its vineyards have been farmed under organic certification since 2013. Farming includes composting and varied cover crops, with grapes harvested by hand into small crates. Its wines include Grauburgunder, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and Weissburgunder. The Grauburgunder undergoes a short period of skin contact and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks and large old wooden barrels, followed by eight months of ageing on the lees.
