Bodegas La Purísima was founded in 1946 by several farmers who joined forces in order to improve the quality of Yecla wines. In 1975, the winery achieved the Denomination of Origin title.

In Yecla, the winery has over 100 hectares of ungrafted Monastrell vineyards, alongside Airén, Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Most plots are planted using massal selection techniques by the farmers themselves, and vineyard parcels are managed with a graphic database and GPS tracking system. Winemaking facilities include red wine maceration tanks with capacities ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 kg, underground storage vats maintained at a constant temperature year-round, an aging hall with temperature and humidity control housing 1,000 French and American oak barrels, and a bottle aging cellar with a capacity of 500,000 bottles. Its wines include Iglesia Vieja, first produced in 1990.
