Ken Wright moved to McMinnville in 1986 and started Panther Creek Cellars; Ken Wright Cellars was founded in rural Carlton, Oregon, in 1994. Ken Wright authored the proposition for the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and served as the association’s first President. Ken and Karen Wright are the proprietors, and the winery has 20 employees.

All of its Pinot noir vineyards are located in the Northern Willamette Valley AVA. The estate uses nutrition-based farming grounded in organic certified practices, along with vertical shoot positioning to open canopy exposure and minimize shading. After hand sorting, fermentation takes place in small 1 1/4 ton open vats. Pinot Noir is aged for about one year in 100% French oak barrels. Its wines include Ken Wright Cellars Abbott Claim Vineyard Pinot Noir.
