Elk Cove was first planted by Pat and Joe Campbell in 1974 and was the first vineyard and winery in the area of the Yamhill Carlton AVA. Owner and winemaker Adam Campbell, a fifth-generation Oregon farmer and second-generation Oregon winemaker, became head winemaker in 1999. Elk Cove is a Certified B Corporation.

The estate sources fruit from 400 acres across six sites in the northern Willamette Valley and is 100% estate-grown. Elk Cove uses non-certified organic practices across all six vineyard properties and dry farms all vines four years or older. Vineyards include Mount Richmond, which has close to 200 planted acres, and Roosevelt Vineyard, planted in 1993 as a four-acre high-density planting. Goodrich Vineyard was planted in 2007 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and purchased in March 2014. Winemakers Adam Campbell and Heather Perkin work together to produce wine; its wines include Pinot Noirs and cool climate white wines.
On VinoVoss, Elk Cove has 8 wines in stock: 5 red, 2 white, 1 rosé. Their average rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 328 ratings.
