Joseph Swan Vineyards

Joseph Swan Vineyards was founded by Joe Swan, with its first vintage produced in 1968. In 1974, Swan erected a winemaking shed with friends, including Joel Peterson. The owners are Rod and Lynn Berglund.

The winery is located on Laguna Road near Forestville in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. The property initially contained 13 acres of old Zinfandel vines, fruit trees, and pasture. In 1968, Swan made wine from Zinfandel and began replanting with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir upon advice from André Tchelistcheff. Low-production clones were chosen, and vines were pruned and thinned for low production.
