J.K. Carriere was founded in 1999 by owner and winemaker Jim Prosser. In 2007, J.K. Carriere acquired 40 acres of hilltop land, built a winery in 2008, and started planting the St. Dolores Estate in 2009.

In the Chehalem Mountains AVA, five clones of Pinot Noir and four clones of Chardonnay are grown at St. Dolores Estate. By its 20th anniversary, the producer was farming 38,000 vines on 26 acres. Vineyards are dry-farmed, no-till, and biologically intensively managed with sheep grazing and cover crops. Wines are made with minimal sulfur, aged on lees, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, and its wines include Lucidité Willamette Valley Chardonnay.
