The story of Hosmer began in 1930 when the Hosmer family purchased the land. In 1972, founders Maren and Cameron Hosmer established Patrician Verona Vineyard. Hosmer Winery was incorporated in 1985, producing its first vintage of wine, and in 1990, the Hosmers renovated a 200+ year old barn into their retail and tasting facility.

Located on the western shore of Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York, the vineyard comprises nearly 70 acres. Grapes grown include Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Lemberger, Merlot, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and various natives and hybrids. Sustainable farming practices include cover cropping, biofuel in vineyard equipment, and an on-site weather station for pest and disease forecasting. Hosmer is certified sustainable through the New York Sustainability Certification program via the VineBalance Certification program and holds the Lake Friendly Farm title, while winemaking focuses on fruit quality with minimal additions to reflect the soil, grape, season, and growing conditions.
