Hook & Ladder was founded by Cecil DeLoach, a former San Francisco firefighter. Jason DeLoach is the winemaker.

The estate includes Olivet Ranch (20 acres), Stegman Ranch (9 acres), Severson Ranch (8 acres), and the 122-acre Los Amigos Ranch in Chalk Hill. Grapes grown across the vineyards include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, and Sangiovese. Farming practices include integrated pest management as well as barn owl boxes and raptor perches to promote natural predator-prey relationships. Jason crafts small-lot wines from Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill estate fruit, and its wines include Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Tillerman Red Blend, Third Alarm Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and Four Rows Reserve Cabernet Franc.
