Herzog is a wine producer in Oxnard, California, with roots in the winery Rabbi Menachem Herzog established in Vrbové, Slovakia, in the early 19th century. Emperor Frans-Josef made Phillip Herzog a baron and asked the family to produce wine for the royal court. Eugene Herzog became the majority stockholder and bought the company in 1958. Under David Herzog’s leadership, the family launched the Baron Herzog label in 1985 as a tribute to Baron Phillip Herzog.

In California, Baron Herzog began in Napa Valley, then moved south of San Francisco before building its winery in Ventura County. The family began sourcing grapes from growers in Napa Valley, Lodi and Clarksburg. Its wines include kosher wines and reserve wines, with the barrel cellar holding up to 2,500 barrels of reserves at controlled temperature and humidity.
