Gainey Vineyard is a wine producer in the Santa Ynez Valley, founded in 1984 when Dan J. Gainey converted 50 acres of the 1,800-acre Home Ranch he and his father had acquired to grapevines. In 1997, the Gaineys acquired Evan’s Ranch as a cool-climate complement to Home Ranch. Jeff LeBard is Gainey Vineyard’s winemaker.

Gainey’s estate vineyards include Home Ranch in Santa Ynez, and Evan’s Ranch and Rancho Esperanza in the Santa Rita Hills. Evan’s Ranch has 55 acres of vines, with conditions suited to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, while Rancho Esperanza was planted in 2009 and spans 45 acres. Gainey’s farming practices include cover crops, compost, avoiding pesticides and controlling weeds by hand to avoid herbicides. Its wines include Patrick’s Vineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon from the Home Ranch vineyards in Santa Ynez.
