By Farr

By Farr is a family-owned winery founded in 1994 by Gary Farr, with winemakers Gary Farr and Nick Farr. Gary Farr has been making wine in the Moorabool Valley, Bannockburn since 1978. Gary and Robyn Farr purchased the original property in 1994 and a second section in 1998. Nick and Cassie Farr purchased the land linking the two blocks in 2011, and the winery is run by Nick and Cassie Farr.

The estate is located in the Moorabool Valley between Geelong and Ballarat, 100km southwest of Melbourne. The property totals 130 acres, of which 36 acres are under vine and the remainder is maintained as grazing and cropping for cattle and horses. The Sangreal vineyard was planted in 1994 and is the estate's oldest vineyard. The grape varieties grown are viognier, chardonnay, pinot noir, gamay, and shiraz. Winemaking focuses on minimal intervention, and its wines include By Farr and Farr Rising.
