Boizel is a Champagne house founded in Epernay in 1834 by Auguste Boizel and Julie Martin, pastry chefs from the Côte des Blancs. Their son Edouard took over the house and, with his wife Adèle, introduced lower-dosage Brut champagnes in 1872. The family’s involvement continued with Evelyne Roques-Boizel, René’s daughter, and her husband Christophe, who took over management in 1972.

Its wines include Blanc de Blancs, created by Jules and Louise Boizel in 1929. Joyau de France, the house’s prestige cuvée, was first launched under René Boizel with the 1961 vintage. Evelyne and Christophe subsequently experimented with wood vinification, creating the first Cuvée Sous Bois in 1990 using old barrels and traditional early twentieth-century methods. Ultime Zéro Dosage followed in 2008, with extended ageing and no added sugar.
