Cebreros is a village and appellation in southeastern Ávila, within the Sierra de Gredos region. This untouched, rustic area marks the transition from northern to southern Spain. Known for producing world-class Garnacha, the region has gained recognition among top wine regions. Telmo Rodríguez discovered Cebreros in 1999, captivated by its old vines and natural beauty. He produced his first wine there, Pegaso, named after a classic Spanish car manufacturer. The Pizarra vineyards, unique to Cebreros, grow on red metamorphic slate soils at altitudes of 950-1200 meters. These organically farmed, low-intervention wines are fresh, complex, and profound, aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.
