The Raposo is a single-varietal Tempranillo red wine that embodies Sandra Bravo's vision of a perfect village wine, in this case from the village of Villabuena de Álava. It is a blend of various plots within the village, where limestone, loam, and clay are predominant soil characteristics. The wine is aged only in large, used 3000-liter oak barrels to capture the natural fruitiness of the Tempranillo grape (cherries and black fruits). Medium-bodied, elegant, delicately structured, and wonderfully juicy and quaffable, this brilliant accompaniment to meals is characterized by freshness and finesse on the finish. Total production is about 6,000 bottles.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
On the nose, Sierra de Toloño Raposo Villabuena de Álava Tempranillo offers enticing aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and plums, accompanied by subtle hints of vanilla and spice. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with velvety tannins that provide a smooth and elegant mouthfeel. The flavors of this wine are well-balanced, with a perfect harmony between the fruitiness of the Tempranillo grapes and the oak aging. You can expect to taste notes of red berries, blackcurrants, and a touch of tobacco, all wrapped up in a long and lingering finish.
